How we ranked this list
Grindr is first because it is the default LGBTQ dating and social app for gay, bi, trans and queer men in most major markets, and the only LGBTQ-by-design product we have tested end-to-end. Reach inside the niche is unmatched, the location-first grid fits the audience, and the free tier supports two-way messaging. The privacy track record and casual-leaning culture are scored honestly inside the review. Mainstream products with an LGBTQ filter are not in this list — a checkbox on a wider pool is not the same product as an LGBTQ-led one.
- 1This list will only expand as we publish reviews of additional LGBTQ-by-design products. We will not pad it with mainstream apps that happen to support same-sex matches.
- 2Score, audience and value grades come from the underlying review and update when that review updates.
- 3The safety axis ranks lowest in our LGBTQ coverage for reasons documented in the Grindr review — reach is one axis, safety is another, and we rank readers' interests across both.
