"Latina" is a word people throw at any Spanish-sounding name, which is exactly how a list like this goes wrong. It means Latin American descent — and that includes Brazil, where the language is Portuguese — but it does not stretch to Spain or Portugal, which are European countries, not Latin American ones. The prior version of this page missed that line entirely: it parked Spanish and Portuguese performers on a Latina list, leaned on crude racial stereotyping, and called it a day. We threw that out, checked every name's actual background, and rewrote the copy to treat the women here as the working professionals they are.
Worth being honest about the breadth, because "Latina" covers two different things at once. Six of the ten were born in Latin America — Esperanza Gomez and Veronica Leal in Colombia, Luna Star in Cuba, Abby Lee Brazil in Brazil, Veronica Rodriguez in Venezuela — while the other four are US-born of Latina heritage: Autumn Falls and Serena Santos and Kira Perez out of the States, Jynx Maze with Peruvian roots from California.
